We're seeking a talented Histotechnologist to join our team and play a crucial role in receiving, processing, and analyzing surgical, biopsy, and autopsy specimens. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Pathologists, Pathologist Assistants, and Residents, and to contribute to the advancement of medical diagnostics.
Your Exciting Role:
Specimen Processing: Receive and accession surgical, biopsy, and autopsy specimens for routine tissue processing and microscopic examination.
Gross Dissection Assistance: Assist Pathologists, Pathologist Assistants, and Residents in the gross dissection room.
Tissue Embedding and Slide Preparation: Routinely embed tissues in paraffin, cut, stain, and label slides.
Procedure Development and Evaluation: Develop new procedures, evaluate reagents and equipment, coordinate validations, and teach staff in problem-solving.
Quality Control and Education: Provide ongoing education to laboratory staff, audit operations for quality control, and serve as a consultant tech.
Workload Management: Assist in managing workload and productivity by adjusting schedules as needed.
Special Procedures: Perform special procedures such as special stains, Immunoperoxidase, undecalcified bone processing, and immunohistochemistry.
Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain reagents, tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomy equipment, and stainers.
Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines and document instances appropriately.
What You'll Bring:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Physical, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science.
Certifications: ASCP accredited (HTL, HT, CT, MT, or MLT) Certification.
Licensure: Current license in the state of practice as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Specialist or Generalist.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other personnel.
Judgmental Skills: Excellent judgmental skills in problem-solving and prioritizing work.
Analytical Skills: Ability to perform calculations and operate laboratory equipment.
Stress Management: Ability to manage stress and maintain a professional atmosphere.
Independence: Strong abilities working independently.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with Windows-style applications and data entry.
Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
